And its ramifications for pan global culture. 

At an anime convention in San Jose  in May 2026 buyers  drank juice that had been steeped in coolers that anime girls had seeped their bare feet in.  Some conventioners  even paid extra to lick the juice  directly off the girls feet. 

Following the event, multiple men were diagnosed with fungal lung infections and some even ended up intubated at local hospitals…. 

Mythological female  monsters are a staple of Japanese folklore. Many are beautiful, cunning and usually  deadly and their stories are codependent with any have influenced many aspects of traditional japanse art and culture. 

The mythological female monsters  of Japan, like Jor?gumo (The Spider Woman): A giant, predatory spider that transforms into a beautiful lady and lures handsome men to their doom  date back to the Edo period ( circa 1603- 1868) and often before. 

These feminine shapeshifters , cast a glamour to seek revenge often for  infidelity, shame, or murder, thereby challenging Asian cultural  norms of women as submissive .  These stories  have multiple social function  including acting as a warning to not  exploit the perceived softness of women and  disturbing  the  emotional tsunami that lurks beneath the apparently calm  surface. 

This  is cultural nuance likely missed by many a western sex tourist who travel to Asia seek  to exploit the perceived ‘vulnerability ’ of Asian women… 

It is likely  there’s a few dustbins in Pattaya that contain what  remains of Ferang (white sex tourist ; sex pats ) who learnt this lesson the hard way. 

Or maybe their remains are still reside in Jorogumos web . Which is why they never write home . 

Anime , as much as I appreciate it as a form, is essentially a disnification of the raw power of traditional Japanese art and the shape shifting  ungovernable power of women  it celebrates . 

Anime is an expression of American  cultural dominion and developed as direct result of post ww2 American occupation.  

It is a colonisation of traditional Japanese art with its fetishised  and Americanised 

representation of ‘women’ . In anime women are often  portrayed with   enormous breasts and hips that are  characatured to what would be powerful and intimidating proportions if the bodes did not belong to heads  which would seem more realistically attached to the non threatening  innocent faces of children … 

I won’t go into the other implications of that juxtaposition here. It casts a shadow over what is otherwise a heartwarming tale of anime conventioners being hospitalised as a result of drinking seemingly adorable female cosplayers foot juice 

I love the ‘anime girls, deadly  foot juice horror’ story as it seems like a revival of the mythical monstrous feminine celebrated in traditional Japanese art.   A trapped also celebrated by the beautiful but deadly femme fatal associated with one of the greatest periods in Hollywood; film noir  (who, like the monstrous feminine of Japanese mythology was also erased from world culture  by American puritism in the 1950s too ) 

But back to the cute anime girl, whose feet are so enchanting, so cute , so submerged  in a bowl of delicious fresh , peach foot juice …

… That one can not help but drink from the bowl, with those perfect, cute toes peeking through the surface… droplets of juice clinging adorably  to her skin… 

.. And when  she bids you to drink the juice from  her toe …  you step forward and drink and it is like a dream come true and when you wake from that dream …. 

 you find yourself intubated in a hospital bed
